All of the classes for the 2017-2018 preschool year are now full. If you are interested in putting your child on the wait list, please contact the preschool registrar, Sarah, at email@example.com. An information pamphlet and forms can be found on the website under the 'Forms' section.
Here are some things to keep in mind for our preschool year:
Children should bring a small, healthy snack to eat during snack time of no more than two items. The children should be able to finish their snack in about 5 to 8 minutes. Some kids like to bring muffins, crackers, fruit, or other easy to eat favourites. Please do not bring candy or gum. You may bring a small drink or a cup for water. For the safety of our children with allergies, please do not send anything containing nuts (including peanut butter or baking with nuts). Please read labels as granola bars and some Ritz crackers have peanut warnings on them. Don’t forget to pack a spoon if you need one!
SHOW AND TELL
Each child will have a turn to bring a special item from home on their parent’s helper day. We will try to coordinate helper days to coincide with birthdays where possible. If you like, you may bring a special snack or treat to share with your classmates on your birthday.
On a rotating basis, ALL parents will be scheduled as classroom helpers. This is a great opportunity to see how your child spends their time at Mother Teresa and to get to know their classmates. If you are unable to work your scheduled day, a trusted friend or relative with whom your child is comfortable can take your place or you can also contact another parent in your session to trade days. The September schedule for your session is included with this letter. Also, please note that siblings are not permitted to accompany you on your helper days as they are not covered by our insurance. All parents are asked to take part helping since we are a Cooperative Preschool. Generally parent helpers are required to help in the classroom once every 6 to 8 weeks.
Each session has a designated room parent who helps coordinate activities specific to their class (special events, field trips, etc.). They also prepare the monthly parent helper schedule. Room parents will be required to attend board meetings as members. All parents are welcome to attend any board meetings if they wish. The board meeting dates will be posted at the classroom.
COMMON DISMISSAL DAYS
We will have preschool on all common dismissal days (when Mother Teresa School is not in session). There may be some exceptions.
We may be holding a fundraiser during the preschool year, this will be decided at our first executive meeting.
Also implemented as of the 2008-2009 year, we are collecting a $50.00 fundraising deposit cheque. Please post-date this cheque for April 1, 2018. If your family participates in the fundraising event for the year, the cheque will be returned to you. However, if your family does not participate, this cheque will be cashed in April, 2018.
In order to keep our preschool clean we schedule toy washes throughout the year. We are a cooperative preschool therefore; every family is expected to participate in at least one toy wash. The organizer will schedule the toy washes and your room parent will ask for volunteers for each toy wash. If you choose not to participate in any of the toy washes your $50.00 toy wash cheque will be cashed at year-end.
If you have not already done so, please bring your fundraising deposit cheque, toy wash cheque and the post-dated cheques for October thru April to the open house. These should be dated for the 1st of each month. Someone will be there to collect these so that Mrs. Wilby will not have to collect them throughout the school year.
